What type of camera is best for taking photos for canvas prints?

If you’re intending to take some photos to have them printed on canvas, and making some unique and personalised canvas art for your home, what sort of camera should you use? There are many different types of camera, from expensive SLRs, to instant cameras, but they all take photos good enough to print on canvas.
An expensive camera with a long lens will give you the most control, and allow you to take some stunning pictures and choose the best composition for any shot, but they’re not very portable. You couldn’t take one on a night out for example, as it would be too large and too expensive.
Phone cameras are very portable, and can be used pretty much anywhere, but depending on your phone they’re not all great at taking good photos due to the different megapixel qualities.
A good camera to use for photos on the go is one of the smaller, portable digital cameras such as the Sony Cybershot range. The quality of the pictures is very high resolution and they’re small enough to fit into your pocket or bag. You’ll get some great photos, wherever you are, that will look good printed on canvas.
