Takashi Murakami, the Master of Japanese Superflat
Takashi Murakami was born in Tokyo in 1963. He is a very creative Japanese artist who paints as well as produces art from digital and commercial media. Murakami studied at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music where he got a doctorate in Nihonga, a combination of Western and Eastern styles of the nineteenth century. He later turned to otaku culture that, according to him, better represented the modern day Japanese life.
Using Poku, a mix of pop and otaku, Murakami conceived Superflat. He hopes to create a new culture that will rejuvenate the present Japanese art scene. His art is often colourful and imaginative. Murakami founded the “Hiropon factory,” in 1996. It was a studio where assistants produce his work. He registered the company as Kai kai Kiki Co Ltd and has about a hundred people working for him in Japan and the US. KaiKai Kiki has helped promote the new Japanese art at home and abroad.
Smooth Nightmare, Tan Tan Bo, Jellyfish Eyes and Army of Mushrooms are some of Murakami’s well-known works of art. His art is often colourful and imaginative. Such artworks are a perfect idea for your canvas prints that make your homes look attractive and appealing.

Can you print Takashi Murakami work onto a canvas? My friend is a huge fan of Tam Tam Bo and I would love a version for him.
