Sporting pictures on canvas
February 15, 2009
This weekend has seen a great series of sporting action, not least of all the Six Nations rugby, with Wales and England going head to head at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. While sport maybe exciting and fun to watch, what few people realise is the artistic qualities of sport. Many artists, including Andy Warhol, have created art with sports stars as their subjects, and some artists have even made art from sports scenes.
The sight of a rugby scrum for example shows the power, precision and passion involved in the game of rugby, and demonstrates the artistic beauty of the game. Indeed, sporting photos such as the ones you could take during a rugby match make for excellent art, and would look superb printed on canvas and displayed as art in your home.
You don’t have to be a sports photographer to take photos such as this, nor do you need pitch side seats at the next Six Nations game. You can take photos of any sporting even so long as you have a decent camera. Why not try visiting your nearest sports field on a Sunday (today would be good!) and take photos of the match taking place, whether it’s rugby or football? If you get some good action shots you could have them blown up and printed on canvas to make art that will rival any professional work.
It beats staying in and watching TV all day.
