Photograph or image quality determines the quality of canvas print
March 19, 2008
One question that often comes up for discussion when printing digital photographs is: How many megapixels does one actually need for a specific size print, like an 8×10 inch print, or an 11×14 inch print, or an even larger poster size?
Part of this answer rests on the quality of the photograph or image. If a photograph is blurry or hazy, you may be required to resample or resize it to a lower scale (number) of megapixels so that the blurriness or haziness is offset. If this is not done, the quality of the full-blown printout may be inferior to what you would want.
Secrets of a quality printout
- Print quality largely depends on the paper as well as printer.
- A good print can be ensured with a quality photo paper and not an ordinary inkjet/laser paper.
- The printer needs to be configured to make use of the high-quality paper.
Once you approach an experienced canvas print maker, such as ourselves, you will be able to check out the optimum size of the image you can go for - without losing its clarity and effect. The decision is better left to experts because that will ultimately define the look and attractiveness of your canvas print.
