Epson 9800s & their ink K3 ultrachrome

Filed under: News — Jack @ 8:45 am

Epson have recently developed a new ink cartridge called the K3 Ultrachrome. This cartridge holds 8 colours, including 3 blacks. The 3 types of black are, light light black, light black and photo / matt black, which means the ultimate in colour and black and white printing. Ultrachrome K3s Matte black means increased optical density when printing on fine art papers.

The unique driver technology of Epson takes full advantage of the new system which allows the highest quality of toned and neutral prints from one cartridge. The screening technology which has been specifically developed to produce high standard printing with no colour run, a good gloss level and scratch resistant straight from the printer means that photographers can make prints without the use of a darkroom.

For proofing professionals the Ultrachrome K3 will deliver consistent results which means an accurate proofing even if using two different printers. The colours from Ultrachrome stabilise within 30 minutes allowing professionals to make correct colour matches quickly.

With the new Ultrachrome K3, Epson have also designed new printers in the Stylus Pro range they are the Stylus Pro 4800,7800 and 9800 and the Epson Stylus Photo R2400. The printers include a number of media options.

Marc Tinkler, Marketing Manager, Pro Graphics, Epson Europe, said:

Until now, professional photographers, artists, as well as professionals in the proofing market have demanded greater control and consistency…

Different ways to print photos

Filed under: Canvas Prints — Jack @ 10:17 am

When it comes to printing your photo collection there are many different options available to you, depending on how you want to present them and what you wish to do with them. For example, if you want to hand photos as gifts you could print them onto small greetings cards and send them to your friends.

However the best way to print photos and to do them the justice that they deserve is to print them on canvas. Photos printed on canvas look like genuine pieces of art and can be displayed as such in your home. Canvas material is traditionally used for artwork by artists, and features paints such as oil or acrylic. By printing photos to canvas you’re creating artwork from your own pictures, pictures of your family, friends, holidays or even of yourself.

Canvas prints of your favourite photos are much cheaper than buying an artist’s paintings or commissioning your own art, and they look just as good. Plus by printing pictures you’ve taken yourself onto canvas you’re being involved in the creative process, creating your own artwork for your home.

Mother and baby printed on canvas

Filed under: Canvas Prints — Charlie @ 8:07 am

There are few things in life that make you want to take photos more than having children. Children, particularly babies, are perfect subjects for photos as they are always posing, always ready and always photogenic. Therefore, if you have children, the chances are you’ve taken hundreds of photos of them throughout their life.

The question is, what do you do with the photos? Pictures of the mother and baby show the special bond between parent and child, yet typically they’re just stored in photo albums and secured in drawers or cabinets. Sometimes they’re printed on paper and framed on the wall.

However a much better way to show off your photos of your children is by having the pictures printed on canvas. Photos on canvas look like oil paintings, works of art, but instead of being art of something like a landscape scene or a ship at sea, it’s of your family, your children.

Show your children off the best way possible by having your photos printed on canvas and displayed as art in your home.

Canvas photos for redecorating your home

Filed under: Canvas Prints — Gareth @ 11:27 am

In these credit crunch times where everyone is feeling the pinch, it’s not always possible to perform those home improvements you’ve been meaning to do. You might want to completely strip your room, have it re-plastered by an expert, painted or wallpapered, or maybe a new carpet. This can be very expensive however, and not everyone’s budget can stretch to such drastic measures.

However a cheaper option could be to improve your room with a painting or photo. Simply hanging a new picture in a room can transform its style and look drastically. It doesn’t have to be expensive and you don’t have to go an auction or an art gallery to choose a new canvas work. You can easily and cheaply use your own photos that you’ve taken yourself and have them turned into wonderful works of art by having them printed on canvas.

This is an excellent way of both adding a touch of beauty to your home for a cheap price, and a way of showing off your photos that would have otherwise languished in photo albums, hidden in the drawer.

Transform the look of one of your rooms in your home with a canvas print of a photograph printed on canvas.

Be the subject of your own pop art masterpiece

Filed under: Canvas Prints — Jack @ 10:54 am

The Girl With a Pearl Earring is currently a successful play in London’s West End, based on the film and novel of the same name. The play is about a servant girl who becomes an artist’s muse, and the subject of his paintings. Everyone would love to be the subject of an artist’s work, but you don’t need to work for an artist to do that. Nor do you need to be an icon of the twentieth century, such as Elvis Presley or Marilyn Monroe were when they become the subject of Andy Warhol’s work.

In fact you can become the subject of your own pop art masterpiece by simply having your own photographs turned into a pop art style and printed on canvas. Any photos that you have of yourself or your family can be scanned into a computer and edited so they have a pop art style to them, reducing the colours to basic tones by a team of artists. The pictures are turned into pop art by skilled artists, in the style of Andy Warhol of himself.

Then they are printed on canvas, creating a unique and customised work of art that you can call your own and impress your friends and family with. How many of your friends do you know that are the subjects of their own art?

You’re sure to be the talking point with your own canvas prints displaying yourself in a pop art work of art.

Photo sharing websites not the best way to share photos

Filed under: Canvas Prints — Charlie @ 10:38 am

Social networking websites such as Facebook and MySpace have emerged in recent years as great ways to share your photos with friends. When you go on holiday you take pictures with your digital camera, upload them via your computer to Facebook and create virtual albums in which you can tag yourself and your friends.

It is however a very disposable way of treating photos, as pictures online are less than permanent. While they may good ways to share pictures with friends, it’s not how photos were meant to be displayed.

Photos were intended to be printed, but printing photos doesn’t just mean you have to have small picture prints that fit into your wallet or photo albums. Instead you can create works of art with your pictures and have them printed on canvas, making for an excellent and eye catching display on your wall.

Photos to canvas can even be shared with friends if you give them as gifts. Isn’t that a much better way of sharing photos with friends than using social networking websites?

Does digital photography mean the end of printed photos?

Filed under: Canvas Prints, Photography Advice — Jack @ 11:20 am

Photography used to be the realm of the rich, as cameras were expensive, difficult to operate and cumbersome to use. As technology moved on photos could be enjoyed by everyone, and millions used cheaper cameras to take countless photos and were able to get them developed very cheaply. This meant that photos were everywhere, until that is, digital cameras came along. When the camera went digital, pictures were saved on discs, on computers and uploaded to websites, but they were rarely printed.

Digital photographs seem to have marked the end of the printed picture, but it doesn’t need to be this way. Digital pictures, rather than spelling the end for printed photos, should mark the beginning. When you have a digital picture you’re able to edit it, manipulate it, remove blemishes and enlarge it as much as you want. Once you have done all of this, you can print your pictures, print them better than they would have been printed normally.

Of course, a perfect picture deserves the perfect print, and printing on paper isn’t moving with the times. Digital photographs would look best printed on canvas, as canvas is the best medium, one that is used by artists for their finest works. Perfect digital photos to canvas make for the perfect pictures for your home.

What is the best way to display your wedding photos?

Filed under: Canvas Prints — Gareth @ 8:36 pm

A wedding is typically one of the most expensive occasions in someone’s life. Apart from buying a home, it tends to cost more than any other event, sometimes even more than buying a new car. The reason weddings are expensive are because of the details, everything has to be just right, and getting it just right costs money. From the wedding dress down the napkins, the day has to be perfect.

The photography is no exception, yet when people have their wedding photos back from the photographer they usually accept the wedding album that he offers, and don’t consider any other way to display their wedding pictures.

Rather than hiding them away in a wedding album, or framing them and displaying them on the wall in a boring manner, why not do something different and create art from your photos? You can take your favourite wedding pictures and turn them into canvas prints and have them displayed on your wall as art. Wedding photos printed on canvas would be a great way of displaying the pictures from your big day, giving them the style and grandeur they deserve.
